Barnet FC is excited to announce the induction of Shaun Sherrick, Mike Moate, and Mus Kortach from the Barnet Walking Football team as new committee members of Barnet FC in the Community. These individuals have made significant contributions to the local area, using the club's influence to unite people and will now oversee all community-related projects. The Barnet Walking Football team has gained national recognition for its inclusive approach, recently winning the Community Impact Award at the London Sport Awards 2026 and receiving a nomination for the Dementia Care Awards. They conduct dementia-friendly sports sessions twice a month and have collaborated with MIND to promote mental health through walking football sessions. Founded over a decade ago, Shaun Sherrick and Mike Moate aimed to improve the social, physical, and psychological well-being of individuals over 50 in the local community. Their efforts have led to numerous accolades, including the Walking Football Association Club of the Year and FA Grassroots Project of the Year. Off the pitch, the group actively supports local food banks and schools, contributing to the award-winning community garden at Stonegrove Estate. Under Manager Mus, the team has also celebrated multiple trophy wins and launched the club's first Women’s Team in the Middlesex League. General Manager Corey Boyd expressed delight in welcoming the new members, highlighting their dedication to community programs and the growth of walking football in Barnet. Shaun Sherrick reflected on their journey, expressing pride in representing Barnet FC and enhancing outreach through local charities and European tournaments. COYB!
