Barnet manager Dean Brennan has labelled the international break a disruptive blow to his team's momentum at the top of League Two. The club has a record four players called up for international duty, forcing the postponement of their next two league fixtures.
Brennan told reporters the situation was "a bit of a kick in the teeth". He said the squad could "really do without" the break after building strong form. This is the first time in the club's history that four Barnet players have received international call-ups simultaneously.
Despite the disruption, the mood at the club remains positive. "Our accumulated points from seven games we're really happy with," Brennan said. Barnet sit first in League Two with 15 points from seven matches, having gone unbeaten with four wins and three draws. Their latest result was a 3-1 home victory over Fleetwood Town last Saturday, a win that maintained their two-point lead at the summit.
The call-ups mean scheduled games against Crawley Town and York City have been postponed. Brennan described Barnet as "a small club with a big heart and good people" that has "come a long way in a short space of time". Supporters can also track the team's position at the top of the standings.
