Dele Alli is training at Barnet's facilities as he searches for a new club. The former England international, 30, is a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Italian side Como 1907 last summer.
Como released a statement at the time confirming the decision. "Como 1907 and Dele Alli have agreed to a mutual termination of his contract," the club said. "Dele is keen to secure regular playing opportunities and, as he was not part of the club's immediate plans, both parties felt it was the right decision to part ways ahead of the transfer window closing."
Alli joined Como on a free transfer in January 2025, signing an 18-month deal. He made just one senior appearance, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 loss to AC Milan in March 2025 before being sent off ten minutes later. He subsequently fell out of manager Cesc Fabregas's plans.
Videos posted by the player on social media show him conducting sharpness and finishing drills at Barnet's venue. There is no suggestion the League Two leaders plan to offer him a permanent deal. Barnet currently sit first in the standings with 15 points from seven games, two points clear of Walsall. Their recent form includes a 3-1 win over Fleetwood Town last weekend, a result that contributed to their total of 17 goals scored this season, a figure that can be explored further in the club's detailed stats.
Former forward Tony Cascarino has suggested Alli needs a move to a club with a large support to reignite his career. "He needs something to give him the lift of reigniting his career, because it's very hard for him to go to a club that's not going to have a huge fan base who can lift him," Cascarino said.
Alli earned 37 caps for England during his peak years at Tottenham Hotspur. His presence at the Hive is a notable endorsement of the club's training facilities. Dean Brennan's side continues its preparations for the trip to face Crawley Town away this Saturday, their next fixture as they look to maintain their position at the top. The full schedule of upcoming matches is available on the fixtures page. The squad, which includes top scorer Kabongo Tshimanga, is working hard ahead of the match against the 24th-placed side. The current squad list shows the depth available to Brennan as they approach this key away game.
